Year #5, and I'm setting the bar pretty high.

I've confirmed that the show will be June 3, 2012 at the Maple Grove Park/Campground in Mohnton, PA. Registration will open at 9am with awards being presented at 2pm.

This is a bit different from previous years, but a Sunday show will open up doors to more people and sponsors. The show is growing bigger and bigger each year, and hopefully these changes will be for the good of the show.

Old City Oil Drippers present Dripfest the first Saturday of June, and with Dub N Rub being the next day we are going to work together to have a VW fun filled weekend!!

It was a great day on Saturday. I am able to donate around $4000 to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

I want to thank everyone who helped me out at the show. My sponsors, the companies that donated, the vendors that donated a portion of their proceeds, and everyone who showed up!

It is amazing to see everyone there, and having a good time.
I was able to donate $4200 this year, which is more than double last year! You all are amazing, and I'm so glad to be a part of the VW scene.

Thanks again, and next year is #5...it is going to be awesome!

Jake just confirmed that The Shop Autowerx LLC will be in attendence stamping europlates on Saturday. They'll have special pink plates, and they're planning on donating 100% from the sale of the pink plates to Dub N Rub!!
There is a limited supply of pink plates, so make sure to get there early!!
The pink plates have a 10 character limit, and the text is black.

They'll also be stamping the europlates with the country mark on them, and those have a 9 character limit.

VENDORS: A reminder, to vend it is $15 donation. I would like you to be there by 8am, if possible. If you get there after it is not a problem, I'm just trying to get you all set up before the show field opens! My only request is that you contribute a percentage of what you make there to the show. We're raising money for the American Cancer Society, and when I donate the money to them I'll make sure that what you donate from your profits will be donated in your business' name!

CAMPERS: Camping is available Saturday night into Sunday for $33. You can pay me cash on Saturday, or you can paypal me the money this week. Please PayPal the money as a 'gift' to sbutz01@yahoo.com

TO EVERYONE ATTENDING: Spectators are $1 donation, and to Register it is $10. Goodie bags are available when you register and are on a limited first come basis! Show field opens at 9am. The Finish Line Pub will be open at 9am as well, and will have food and refreshments. If you show your pink Dub N Rub bracelet when you register, you will receive a free soda and a bag of chips. Raffle tickets will be sold, and a silent auction will be going on as well for some pretty cool items!

Vision Auto Group, HE Performance, 4 Ever Kustoms, Poor Man Designs and Old City Oil Drippers will be on hand as well!

If you drop any items off at the 4 Ever Kustoms booth on Saturday, they will donate a portion of their proceeds to Dub N Rub.

Poor Man Designs will have a select pink collection just for Dub N Rub.

OCOD will have a few items of interest they made just for Dub N Rub as well.

I also believe that The Shop Autowerx LLC will be in attendence stamping europlates that day as well. They'll have special pink plates, and they're planning on donating money from the sale of the pink plates to Dub N Rub!!

It has been awhile since I updated the blog, but things are progressing nicely. The items for the raffle and silent auction are steadily coming in.

Just to remind everyone:
-Registration opens at 9am and closes at noon. It is $10.
-Spectators are $1, and children under 12 are free.
-The resteraunt will be open a 9am and will be serving food.
-The show is open to all AIR and WATER cooled VW and all AUDI's!

Camping is available for $33 from Saturday after the show into Sunday.

T-shirts and stickers will be for sale as well, and all the proceeds raised will go to the American Cancer Society's Making Strides against breast cancer walk!!

I spoke with Jason Diem from 4Ever Kustoms last night, and he wanted to let everyone know that if you bring items to Dub n Rub that need to be powder coated, he will donate a portion to the Making Strides Walk! Jason will have his book of powdercoat colors with him at the show so look for his stand, and spruce up your ride.

Also, prior to Dub n Rub 4Ever Kustoms will have a group buy on powder coating items PINK! Drop off your items at LEAST three weeks before the show in order to get them back in time to throw your hat into the ring for Most Supportive!!!!

It's been a great 2011 so far for Dub N Rub. HE Performance, Vision Auto Group and 4Ever Kustoms are sponsoring the show.
-Old City Oil Drippers are donating a bunch of items to the show including stickers, beanies and other items!
-DJ Dirty Dave is donating his time again this year (here's hoping he remembers his table)!

Good morning and Happy New Year!

2011 is off to a good start with 4Ever Kustoms and Old City Oil Drippers throwing their hats into the sponsorship of Dub N Rub 2011!
It's pretty exciting here in my new apartment, getting organized and ready for show season. I have a few other companies interested in possibily having a bigger participation this year as well.
Outline Sport has joined Dub N Rub this year, and is donating shirts for the raffle. They have a great shipping rate of $6.50 regardless of how many items you purchase, and a wide variety of shirts and hoodies for everyone from the air cooled to the MK6 crew.

234 people showed up to the show on Saturday. 82 cars registered. 23 people camped. Approximately $2000 will be donated to the walk. Vision brought 8 cars.
Counter Kultur, Underground Motorsports and poOR Man Designs donated money from what they brought in at the show.
And we had 8 people walk away with plaques!

Today is Wednesday and everything is ready to go for the show. I think.

I have people to help me out Saturday. They'll get there after me, but before the start of the show, and that is all I ask.
Someone is taking care of the camping gear, because I am not.
I have someone else worrying about the speed bumps, because I am not low and hadn't noticed!
Spectator parking will have to work itself out the day of, because I ran out of time to prep for that.

NGP Racing is delivering their goods to me.

So all I need to do is clean the car and pack it up.

So I have had a ton of questions from people who have never been to Dub N Rub before about the 'classes' and judging.
First off, there's no 'classes'. I created the show to be more of a get together...for air and water cooled to chill next to one another. For drivers to hang out, and admire one another's efforts. It's a very laid back day. The plaques are my way of making it a bit more interesting. It honestly comes down to the individual with the ballot. When you register you don't tell me what you want to be judged as. So regardless of if you are nuts low...you may end up walking away with the All Natural. If it gets to be a bigger, then it probably will evolve into more of a 'true' show...but for now it is what it is.

Saggiest: Lowered pretty much sums it up. If you like what you see...vote for it.

All Natural: daily driver that is a pretty all encompassing category...but it's to include the cars that are driven every day, but still manage to look decent.

Best Cleavage: best display this means that the person took some time to either include pictures of their build, trophies from other shows, or even a theme. Sort of a broad concept, but you'll get it when you see some of the cars display's.

Best Topless: convertibles again pretty much means anything that the top comes off.

Perkiest: high performance can mean many things to different people, but when I came up with it I was thinking of the folks who took time to redo their engines et al to get as much fast as they could.

Inner Beauty: overall interior was a request by someone...and it turned out to be a good idea. Whether you have a theme, or just a super clean interior you could be walking away with a plaque. Does it all tie together well, is the trim matching/not falling off...has it been lint rolled?

Junk in the Trunk: sound system I like base...I want to feel it in my chest.

Most Supportive: Most supportive of breast cancer awareness It is what the show is for, so do what you want and make me know that you are all about the boobies!

The day of the show you can ask me if you have any other questions, but honestly I do not interfere with judging unless I have to. I know too many people, and I don't want it to become a "who does Sharon like better" contest.

You are more then welcome to email or call/text me with questions...but read www.cepavw.org, www.renegadevw.com, www.dubkorops.com, www.vwvortex.com (mid-atlantic region area), www.dubsontheboards.com to get a better understanding of what the day is like. Or better yet, just show up and check it out for yourself. The worst case scenario is you pay $1 to support the ta-ta's.

9 days...9 days until Dub N Rub!
I got my people coming over Sunday to stuff goodie bags. My people...ahhh, if it wasn't for my great friends and boyfriend I am not sure how successful the preparation would have been! So this is my official 'I appreciate you!' post.

I want to thank all the people who have volunteered to help me out the day of the show. Who have gone to pick stuff up for me. Who have listened to me whine. Those who've done alterations on files. Helped recruit volunteers. All the people and companies that have donated raffle items, goodie bag items, and helped promote the show with/for me!!

Thank you for all your help! Without you I may have lost the little sanity I hold on to.

OMG...I just realized I need decent directions. Every single time I drive up there I get lost. I still get lost going to Vision...I take the same wrong turn every single time.

With only 16 days left, I'm starting to feel the excitement!

Brady's in Willow Street donated services via a gift certificate.

I have to go on the 15th to pick up the plaques from Awards & Beyond in New Cumberland. They did last year's and they turned out terrific.

I have to call a couple of people who are last minute types, but no worries. I have faith in them to get the job done~

I will have to do some shopping to prepare for camping...but not too much because I have all the smore's ingredients already!! I just need beer, and I think that's it. Lulz.

Breast Cancer Programs

One of the main reasons I chose to support the American Cancer Society is the programs they have for breast cancer patients.

Look Good...Feel Better
The Look Good...Feel Better® program is a free, community-based, national service that helps women learn beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Volunteer beauty professionals lead small groups, usually consisting of 6 to 10 women, through practical, hands-on experience. In a fun, encouraging environment, women learn about skin care, makeup techniques, nail care, and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans, and scarves. Each program participant receives a free kit of cosmetics for use during and after the workshop. For women who are unable to attend a group workshop, a free, one-time, individual salon consultation with a volunteer cosmetologist may be available. A free self-help brochure for men also is available.

The Look Good...Feel Better program is offered by the American Cancer Society in collaboration with the Personal Care Products Council and the National Cosmetology Association. All cosmetology volunteers attend a 4-hour certification class.

Old City Oil Drippers Stepping up to the plate to Save 2nd Base

I have been posting on various forums about Dub N Rub...vwvortex, thesamba, dubkorps, renegadevw.com, and dubsontheboards specifically...and made mention that stickers/vinyl would not be done this year due to budget constraints. Well OCOD's Brian Batzel and Rick Milne got their heads together and offered up stickers for DnR as their donation to the cause. Rick did a little tweaking on the original, and here is the final proof of the sticker.
I am tickled pink...pun fully intended...and am very grateful to OCOD. They've been such great supporters of DnR from the beginning by promoting it at Dripfest.

I can't thank them enough. If you haven't made plans yet be at Dripfest June 5th~ I know I will be!

As I was reminded last night the show is approaching...and I am feeling the need to solicit!
I spent Saturday morning trolling forums and the internet to see which local companies get mentioned with good reviews...so it looks like I am going to be taking a day off in the next few weeks so I can drive around and beg.

I also am beginning to stress about the show set up. All these little things are starting to build up, and my ulcer's kicking in! But I suppose I am not suppose to talk about this stuff, right? These are not the droids you are looking for.

Really, I have been such a slacker about updating the blog.

Since my last post:
- Renegade VW donated a few t-shirts to the show. Thanks Ryan! He's got a ton of merchandise up on his site...www.renegadvw.com

- The postcards came in and were handed out at Volksfest. The Dutch Dubbers were given a handful to hand out, and I need to mail Brian of OCOD a pack of postcards to hand out at Dripfest.

- Lost Dog Photos, which if you remember took pictures last year in the torrential downpour...is coming again to Dub N Rub! This year, they're going to be selling some vinyl creations they've been working on. Jen & Tim are awesome people. You may have seen them at Volksfest...you may have even bought a few of their "offensive stickers". Check out PoOr Man Designs on Facebook!

- Universal Tire has donated some items that are going into the goodie bags.

- The campground has been rented for Saturday into Sunday, and already have 12 sites booked up! It's shaping up to be a great weekend!!

As the nation’s largest source of private, nonprofit cancer research funds, the American Cancer Society has distributed more than $3.3 billion to researchers since 1946. They take pride in funding promising researchers early in their careers, and our track record is something we share with pride. Of the researchers chosen for Society funding throughout the years, 44 have gone on to win the Nobel Prize. In fact, the Society invests more in breast cancer research than any other tumor site. Funding research into breast-conserving surgery, using lumpectomy plus radiation for treatment

Honestly not much has occcurred to update you all on. The show is being held June 19, 2010 at Maple Grove Park (behind the Speedway). Vision Auto Group in Leesport PA is our only sponsor this year...but I am beginning to collect goodie bag and raffle items. Brian Yohn from ShedPress is working with me to get the t-shirts and postcards ready for the show. Not only will there be adult sizes, but there's going to be children sizes too.
NGP Racing and Universal Tire are two companies who are going to be donating items for the goodie bags.
Since the show is in a different location this year, I am very interested in finding companies closer down that way. If you have a favorite shop, let me know and I'll make some phone calls!

Pink Glove Dance: Providence St Vincet Medical Center

More than 200 employees of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon recently went beyond simply wearing new pink gloves to spread the word about breast cancer awareness – they danced in them. And now their fun and touching video – “The Pink Glove Dance” – has become a hit on YouTube with more than 75,000 views within just a few days of posting.

“The Pink Glove Dance,” which features the artist Jay Sean’s hit song “Down,” includes employees from practically every area of the hospital from the CEO to nurses, doctors, cooks, cleaning services, lab technicians and even a cancer patient. Sean recently viewed the video and commented on his official website – http://www.jaysean.com.

“The vid is awesome...medicine will always be close to my heart and this is such a worthy and important cause. So maybe I could have been a doctor and a singer at the same time after all then!? Just Brilliant.”

According to his website, he gave up a career in medicine to follow his passion in music. However, he still has fond memories and admiration for those in the medical professions.

The pink gloves featured in the video were provided by Medline Industries, Inc., which recently introduced its new “Generation Pink” gloves. A portion of the sales from the gloves is going to fund mammograms for the underserved population. Based in Mundelein, Illinois, Medline is a manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies and the leading provider of exam gloves in the U.S.

Since Dub N Rub has moved to the Maple Grove Park for 2010, Vision Porsche/Audi/VW in Reading is going to be sponsoring the show this year. Bill from Vision stepped up to help us out, and I will be swinging over that way in a few weeks to meet with him.

New Location--Maple Grove Park

Dub N Rub has a new location this year!
The show will be held at Maple Grove Park behind Maple Grove Speedway.
I am very excited about the location.
They have a restaurant on site with an assortment of foods and prices. They also have a liquor license for anyone interested. You will be able to bring your own food and drinks if you want, but there will be no other food vendors besides the restaurant on site.

Welcome to 2010!

This year is starting off slightly different than previously. First off, I had to get a new blog. The old blog is still available to peruse...but I can't access it. Google/Blogspot is very tight with security and confidentiality, and if you forget your password and your "secret question" answer you are pretty much not getting in! Which is commendable when it's not your blog you are trying to liberate. But I am moving forward, and starting fresh.
